Oral Cancer Detection & Digital Dentistry for Dental Therapists

This combined session equipped dental therapists with vital knowledge and practical skills in two key areas of digital dentistry and oral cancer detection.
The first part of the session shifted focus to digital advancements in dentistry, providing an in-depth look at current digital workflows and technologies that are transforming patient care. Delegates gained a clear understanding of how intraoral scanning fits into the modern dental workflow and observed a demonstration of the Dentsply Sirona Primescan.
The second part of the session focused on the early detection of oral cavity cancer. Delegates reviewed the key signs and symptoms of oral cancer and discussed effective health promotion strategies targeting smoking, vaping, and alcohol use.
Together, these sessions reinforced the evolving and expanding role of dental therapists in delivering high-quality, prevention-focused and digital patient care.

Understand epidemiology internationally and nationally exploring prevalence/incidence/prognosis

- Enhance knowledge of referral writing and clinical note taking
- Discuss health promotion tools with emphasis on smoking, vapes/e-cigarettes and alcohol interventions
