Course Overview

This intensive 2-day hands-on course is designed for general dental practitioners who want to advance their surgical skills and build clinical confidence in managing cases that would typically be referred.

The focus is on practical training using custom-made models and phantom heads to simulate real-life oral surgery scenarios. Delegates will use water-cooled handpieces, mirroring real clinical conditions — no animal heads are used.

Course Schedule

Day 1: Saturday from 9:00-18:00
Day 2: Sunday from 9:00-16:00

Course Aims

Participants will:
✅ Enhance core oral surgery techniques and complication management
✅ Explore dental and anatomical considerations for extractions
✅ Understand consent and communication in oral surgery
✅ Learn principles of flap design and suturing
✅ Review local anaesthesia techniques and radiographic interpretation

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Confidently assess and manage surgical cases, including impacted wisdom teeth
  • Perform both surgical and non-surgical extractions on models
  • Handle common complications and know when to refer
  • Interpret medical histories and adapt treatment plans accordingly
  • Identify and manage MRONJ risk patients
  • Select and apply the correct local anaesthetic techniques
  • Practice flap raising and suturing on simulated patients
  • Accurately interpret radiographs to guide treatment planning

The A9 is the main trunk road into Perth.  We are located in the centre of Perth with good transport links.  Perth Train Station is a 10 minute walk away as is the main Bus Station.  All day parking is available behind the Academy at Thimblerow car park, charges apply.  The car park is only a 2 minute walk away.  Entry to the Academy is via our Sure Smile Studio located on the ground floor of 31 South Methven Street, Perth, PH1 5PE.

Cancellations and Refunds
In the event of a cancellation by the participant, no refunds will be issued.

Participants who do not attend the programme will remain liable for the full tuition fee.

If the programme is cancelled by Advanced Dentistry & Clinical Skills Centre, participants will receive a full refund of the course fee. Advanced Dentistry & Clinical Skills Centre reserves the right to modify or adjust the course where necessary due to circumstances beyond it's control.
