This one day intensive hands-on endodontic course with Dr Ammar Al Hourani, aims to develop an understanding of the steps required to achieve predictable, reproducible and successful endodontic outcomes using evidence-based endodontic principles. The blended learning approach brings together theoretical knowledge with hands-on training. The format will allow for consolidation of existing skills and development of new approaches to overcome common endodontic difficulties.

The course will update clinicians’ knowledge of endodontic pre-assessment, case complexity and special investigations to achieve the correct diagnosis. The course will also enhance the clinicians’ techniques of access cavity design, canal location and chemo-mechanical preparation of the root canal system using novel NiTi systems including the new GenEndo file by Septodont. Furthermore, the clinician will be introduced to bioceramic sealers and the rise of the Single cone obturation technique and various traditional and contemporary obturation techniques. Furthermore, delegates will gain experience in the placement of Biodentine in deep carious lesions and pulp exposure cases.

Objectives and Learning Outcomes:

• To acquire a thorough understanding of the key principles of access cavity design 
• To gain an appreciation for scouting and coronal pre-flaring in the chemo-mechanical debridement of the root canal system and its importance in preventing common mishaps in Endodontics
• To appreciate the importance of achieving patency and glidepath formation in safely preparing the root canal system and preventing mishaps in root canal treatment and mechanical preparation
• Develop sound knowledge of how apex locators work and how they compare to the use of radiographs in the role of working length determination
• Gain a comprehensive overview of the importance of irrigation and intracanal medication in Endodontics and methods to improve irrigation efficacy and disinfection of the root canal system
• To gain a thorough understanding of the key principles of obturation and its importance in creating an apico-coronal seal
