This presentation has been targeted specifically for general dentists and dental care professionals working in primary care, and designed to give a practical overview of current guidelines and complications that relate to Oral Surgery.

 Aims

This presentation will provide an overview of SDCEP guidelines which relate to Oral Surgery and explore common oral surgery complications that may be experienced  in general dental practice

 Intended Learning outcomes, by the end of this presentation

  • the participants should have an increased confidence in the practical application of SDCEP guidelines in relation to Oral surgery
  • the participants should be able to describe common oral surgery complications that may be encountered in general practice
  • the participants should understand how to manage simple complications in oral surgery and when it would be more appropriate to refer to suitably trained colleagues

Nicola Doherty - Speaker Biography

Nicki completed her undergraduate training in Dundee in 1992 and postgraduate vocational training in the North of England. She spent a short time working in General Dental Practice in England and then entered Hospital Service as an Oral and Maxillofacial Senior House Officer. She then returned to Scotland in 1998 and continued to work in secondary care in the Oral and Maxillofacial service.

Nicki returned to General Dental Practice in 2009 following a short career break and then to secondary care as a locum Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery at Glasgow in 2010. She was appointed as a Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery at Glasgow in 2012, and now works exclusively in the department where she is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical teaching as well as service provision. She has completed AWI and Peer Appraisal training.

Nicki is currently MFDS Part 2 Convenor at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

 

Anjali Chawla - Speaker Biography 

Anjali completed her undergraduate training in Glasgow in 1990 and postgraduate training in England. She spent a short time working in the Salaried dental service in Australia and returned to England where she worked as a GDP till 2002.

She returned to Glasgow following this to work in practice and Hospital service and completed further training in sedation and implant dentistry. Since 2020, she has worked exclusively in Secondary care in her position as Specialty Dentist in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine. She has recently completed a postgraduate certificate in Medical Education at University of Dundee.

Anjali continues to be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in these specialties.

Delegate Terms and Conditions

Payment must be made prior to a booking being accepted.  

If cancellation is more than 8 weeks before course start date, full refund will be given. Cancellation within 8 weeks of the course start date will incur 50% course fee. Cancellation within 4 weeks of the course start date will incur 100% course fee.

Non-attendees will be charged the full tuition fee. If Clyde Munro cancels the programme, the participant will be reimbursed the full tuition amount.   Prior to that an administration fee of £50 will be charged. Clyde Munro reserves the right to alter the programme if there are circumstances beyond its control.
